Cookies and storage
What Encore stores in your browser, who sets it, why, and for how long. Encore uses no advertising cookies.
1.In short#
Almost everything here keeps Encore working: signing in, your cart, what you were playing, and choices you made. Three small items help Encore work better: they count what a guest saves before signing up, avoid repeating the sign-up suggestion, and connect a guest’s free plays to a later purchase. Our emails also record when they’re opened and which links are clicked.
2.Needed to run Encore#
These make the features you use work. Without them you couldn’t stay signed in, keep a cart or pay.
- Signing in
__session, __client_uat, __clientKeeps you signed in, and checks your session is still valid. - Payment security
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sidHelps prevent fraud. Set only once the payment form opens. - Your cart

encoremusic_display_currencyThe currency you chose to see prices in. Set only when you choose one. - Opening an order bought without an account
encoremusic_orderLets this browser open your order and its downloads, once you’ve bought in it or confirmed it with a code we emailed you. - Confirming an order in a new browser
encoremusic_order_linkRemembers, for an hour, that this browser opened your order’s link, so it can ask for the code we email you. - Finishing a purchase without an account
encoremusic_checkoutLets this browser open the order you just paid for, before its link arrives by email. - What you were playing
browser storageThe track, where you were in it, and your free plays, so the player picks up where you left off. - Recent searches
browser storageYour last few searches, so you can run one again. - Studio notices
studio-ready-dismissed, studio-setup-openRemembers whether you closed the ready-to-sell notice, and whether you left the setup list open. Only used in Studio.
3.Helping Encore work better#
These don’t power a feature you asked for. They help Encore and its artists understand what’s working.
- Guest saves count
browser storageCounts the hearts and follows a guest makes, to choose when to suggest signing up. - Sign-up suggestions
browser storageRemembers that we’ve already suggested signing up, or that you closed the suggestion, so it isn’t shown again. - Listening ID
browser storageA random ID for this browser. It counts free plays, and, if you buy as a guest, tells the artist whether you heard the music before buying. It never identifies you by name.
4.In our emails#
Emails from Encore, including the waitlist, record when they’re opened and which links are clicked, so we can see what’s useful. Images in emails can be turned off in most email apps, which stops opens being recorded.
5.Your choices#
- Your browser’s settings can clear or block cookies and storage. Blocking the ones Encore needs will sign you out and empty your cart.
- If we ever add analytics or advertising, we’ll ask first, and this page will change before we do.
How Encore uses this information is in the Privacy Policy, under Cookies and similar technologies.
